Today I returned to my old home, depping for Leeds Conservatoire's Wind Orchestra on clarinet. We had a 3-hour on-the-day rehearsal followed by the 90-minute concert, all led and conducted by Shaun Matthew.

Repertoire

Hammersmith – Gustav Holst

A Mother of Revolution! – Thomas

Bright Spark – Bingham

The Year of the Dragon – Sparke

The Year of the Dragon featured a fiendish 3rd movement whose fast, intricate semiquavers were a fun challenge to get fluent and up to speed.

A Mother of Revolution! was especially a personal highlight, being a disco piece inspired by Stonewall and specifically the trans activist Marsha P. Johnson.

I got a case of the usual pre-show snooze, but was feeling very happy afterwards having survived the onslaught of semiquavers.
